WTC Final 2023: Australia ready to take on in-form Virat Kohli, here's what they said

The World Test Championship (WTC) Final is inching closer by the minute and as both India and Australia go to town with their preparations, members of the team from Down Under sat down with the International Cricket Council to talk about their opponents.

24-year-old all-rounder Cameron Green, who scored a century against India during the final Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test earlier this year, believes that the Virat Kohli will be a serious threat to Australia.

‘Virat Kohli. I think he always tries to be the man to stand up in big moments,’ Green said.

Adding to his teammate’s words, former Australia captain Steve Smith said, ‘Virat Kohli loves playing against Australia and has often scored runs against us, but hopefully we can keep him quiet this week.’

In 24 matches against the Aussies, Virat Kohli has amassed 1,979 runs including 8 centuries.

Pacer Mitchell Starc and skipper Pat Cummins called the 34-year-old a skillful player, who is always up for a fight.

Apart from Virat, Green also spoke about his Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma, who will be leading India in the WTC Final.

‘The calmness he (Rohit) has out in the middle is so evident. He's obviously been there and done that for 10 years. To be out there with him and just talk through a situation was awesome.’

Green, with 452 runs and six wickets, played a key role in MI's campaign this season under Rohit's captaincy.

India take on Australia in the World Test Championship Final starting June 7 at The Oval.
