He stole the spotlight with an awe-inspiring performance. Yet, what many are unaware of is the remarkable story behind his name, a name that echoes the legacy of Indian cricket.

The Indian connection

Making his Test debut in India two years ago, Rachin has now marked his presence on the grand stage of the World Cup. Reflecting on his journey, he told PTI, "Looking back on my Test debut, it was a special and emotional time. Being able to play in India, the fanfare around the game here, to be able to experience that is pretty special. My parents come from Bangalore and it is amazing to play a World Cup here."

The night of July 14, 2019, was etched in his memory as he watched New Zealand's agonizing defeat to England in the ODI World Cup final while sitting in a Bengaluru pub.
