Wasn't informed in time about the change in ODI captaincy: Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli was expected to end all speculations about his participation in the ODI series vs South Africa in Mumbai on Wednesday but his press conference gave ahead of the South Africa tour gave birth to a fresh controversy.

During the media interaction, Virat said that he told the BCCI before giving up the T20I captaincy. The board received it very well and there was no hesitancy. 'I was told that it was a progressive step,' added Virat. However, this is contrary to what BCCI president Sourav Ganguly had said that he personally requested Virat not to step down as the T20 skipper.

There were more fireworks when Kohli was asked about whether the selectors discussed ODI captaincy with him. He said that has had no communication with the BCCI and he was contacted 1.5 hours before the meeting and told him that he will not be the ODI captain anymore.

Virat also played down reports of him missing the ODI series in South Africa and said that he is available for the series to be played in January.

Talking about his 'alleged' rift with Rohit Sharma, Virat quashed all rumours and appeared to be tired of clarifying the situation. Virat said, "There is no problem between me and Rohit Sharma. I have been clarifying for the past two years and I am tired now. I want to also say one thing that none of my actions or decisions will be to take the team down."
