Virat Kohli's old statement on 'leaving Royal Challengers Bangalore' resurfaces after IPL retention

The relationship between Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore and Virat Kohli has been unbreakable.

From his day 1 in the league, Virat has played for Bangalore and has vowed to play till the end of his IPL career.

But ahead of the 2024 IPL mini-auction, a 2022 statement of Virat Kohli has resurfaced.

In an episode of the RCB Podcast, Virat revealed that he had contemplated leaving the Bengaluru franchise.

When asked if he ever wondered if the 'grass is greener' on the other side, with another team he responded, "To be very honest, I have thought about it, yes, I won't shy away from it."

He added that he was approached several times to put his name in the auction but as he thought deeper about it, he came to a conclusion.

"I was like at the end of the day everyone has X numbers of years that they live and then you die and life moves on," he revealed.

Nobody remembers you as an IPL champion or a World Cup winner but rather if you were a good person or not, the 35-year-old had stated.

Since the IPL's inception in 2008, RCB have not won a title and consequently so hasn't Virat Kohli.

But for Virat, the faith showed by RCB during his initial years matters more to him than playing for another team and maybe win a trophy.
