Mithali Raj who announced her retirement last week has opened up about her feud during the 2018 T20 World Cup with Indian women's team coach Ramesh Powar.

Speaking to India Today, the ex-captain who was dropped from the Playing XI against England in the semifinal match revealed that she was treated unfairly during the marquee event.

It requires a lot of courage when you are treated unfairly and people only know one side of the story, said the 39-year-old. Saying her aim was to remain goal-oriented, the former Indian ace added that it was not just about her skill but also about her mental state of mind.

During the WC, she was indulged in a spat with Powar and was eventually dropped from the squad. India lost the semis and Mithali Raj, Powar and Harmanpreet Kaur who was captaining the side during the tournament had separate meetings with BCCI

After the row, WV Raman replaced Powar as the head coach of the team. However, the former India spinner was reappointed ahead of the 2022 Women's World Cup.
