The return of the chase master: Virat Kohli becomes India's 2nd highest run-getter

'I have enjoyed batting ever since I came back', said Virat Kohli after powering India to a 6-wicket win with a spectacular 63(48) against Australia in the series decider.

And truly so, the ex-India skipper who looked rusty for the past 3 years looks rather relaxed after taking a month-long break, where he said, 'he did not touch his bat'

Virat Kohli who apparently was not his best self on the crease in the past three years is once again among the runs which will be one of the biggest positives for Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022, which is scheduled to begin next month.

The 33-year-old, after his break, has amassed 355 runs in 8 games, including an elusive 100, which he scored during the Asia Cup. The much-awaited ton was his 71st overall and the first in the shortest format of the game.

In the final game vs the Aussies, the ex-skipper who began his innings on an attacking note brought it a notch down after Suryakumar came out to bat. 'When Surya started hitting, it was just about building a partnership, so I used my experience a little bit and stayed back', Kohli who scored his 4th consecutive fifty in a bilateral T20I series decider said in the post-match presentation.

Suddenly, like the old days, Virat is once again breaking records. His 63-run-knock in the Hyderabad T20 was his 4th consecutive half century in a bilateral T20 series decider. He also leapfrogged current India coach Rahul Dravid in the process and is now the 2nd highest run getter for the Men in Blue in international cricket, only behind Master Blastyer Sachin Tendulkar.

Once known to chase down targtes for fun, Virat somewhat lost that mojo in the last 3 years but it seems that the chase master and the in-your-face Kohli of the old days has returned.
