T20 World Cup 2021: skipper, coach and mentor not on the same page, feels Monty Panesar

Despite having a brilliant line-up, and a World cup winning mentor Team India's struggle at the World T20 is worrisome. Virat Kohli who will give up his captaincy duties after World T20 is facing harsh criticism for the awful outing.

Ex English player Monty Panesar in an interview with Times of India said that he feels that the skipper is not on the same page as the coach and the mentor. While it was being expected that India will produce a first-rate performance at World T20 because of Dhoni's presence, the famed team has turned out to be an under-archiver on the world stage.

Panesar said that a lot of things depend on Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Ravi Shastri and added they need to sit down together and sort this out quickly.

Calling the environment of the dressing room'Khichdi', Panesar highlighted the issue with the presence of Dhoni. The former cricketer told TOI that having a coach and making a mentor sit on top of him is not a good sign, the coach's job is to mentor a team, this created a lot of confusion in the dressing room.

Panesar who still has his confidence in the Indian team feels that while people will remember Kohli for being a batter and a massive chaser, he will always be criticised for his leadership.
