Shaun Marsh announces retirement from professional cricket

Former Australian batter Shaun Marsh will conclude his 15-year-long cricket career with the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) clash between Melbourne Renegades and Sydney Thunder on January 17th.

The 40-year-old parts ways with professional cricket after representing Australia in 38 Tests and 73 ODIs.

Following a match-winning half-century against Melbourne Stars on January 13th, Marsh announced his decision to retire amid an impressive show of form in the ongoing Big Bash League season.

Marsh thanked his Melbourne Renegades teammates and said that he met some great people over the last five years and the friendships he had made will last a lifetime.

“Our members and fans are some of the most passionate out there and I'm so thankful for their support over the journey. Stick with us, there's a huge amount of talent in this group and I have no doubt they'll lead this group back to the top,” Marsh said while announcing his retirement.
