The world of cricket suffered a massive shock on March 4 after legendary spinner Shane Warne passed away. He died at the age of 52 due to a suspected heart attack, according to reports. Warne, the second-highest wicket-taker in Tests, had ended his run with 708 wickets.

Warne's long-time rival and close friend Sachin Tendulkar said he was shocked, stunned, and miserable. Sachin said he would always treasure their "on-field duels & off-field banter". Virat Kohli called life fickle and unpredictable. He called Warne the "greatest to turn the ball". India captain Rohit Sharma said he was lost for words, and couldn't believe that Warne had passed away.

Sir Vivian Richards said he was shocked to the core. Virender Sehwag said "superstar" Warne was the one who made spin "cool". Shikhar Dhawan said he was "sad, speechless, and completely shocked". Dinesh Karthik also expressed his utter shock.

Shoiab Akhtar said, "What a legend, what a man, what a cricketer." Shahid Afridi said he was inspired by Warne from the start of his career, and it was always a privilege playing against him. Chris Gayle said, "RIP legend."

Harsha Bhogle expressed agony and grief, and said that the "magic will stay forever". Suresh Raina said that Warne had always been magical on the pitch. Kris Srikkanth called Warne one of the greatest wrist spinners ever. Ajinka Rahane and Mohammad Shami also paid tributes to the legend.
