The India head coach Rahul Dravid has responded to Wriddhiman Saha's controversial revelation that apparently hinted that the former had indirectly asked the veteran wicketkeeper to retire from the sport.

Saying that the 37-year-old cricketer deserved honesty and clarity, Rahul Dravid added that he was not hurt by Saha's comments and that he had respect for him and the contributions he has made for Indian cricket.

I didn't want him to hear about it from the media, Dravid said.

Further, the Indian coach said that it also did not hurt him because he is used to having a difficult conversation with players and he doesn't expect that the players like the conversation every time.

Saha has had an extended rough patch in his career. Though he has been picked by Gujarat Titans in the mega auctions for the upcoming IPL, BCCI had earlier hinted to him that young players will be preferred over him. Saha who also backed out of the Ranji Trophy, then revealed that Rahul Dravid had asked him to 'take some other decision' and the management is looking to groom younger cricketers.
