New Zealand’s Kane Williamson retired hurt due to ‘tight hamstring’ | NZ vs PAK 2nd T20I

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson was seen walking off the field after an apparent injury in the 2nd T20I against Pakistan on Sunday. It was later announced that the 33-year-old ‘experienced tightness’ in his right hamstring.

The Blackcaps announced shortly after that Williamson would not return to pitch as a precautionary measure. Plagued by injuries in 2023, Williamson has already seen two such major setbacks in the IPL and ODI World Cup.

Williamson had put up 26 runs off 15 deliveries before the injury.

Tim Southee was assigned the captain’s duty after Williamson walked off while clutching his right leg. Daryl Mitchell replaced Williamson as the batter.

Opening batter Finn Allen smashed 74 runs off 41 balls, bolstering the Kiwis to a total of 194 runs.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi failed to deliver with the ball and took no wickets while giving away 30 runs. Haris Rauf took 3 wickets for the visitors while Abbas Afridi dismissed two batters.
