New Zealand’s Tim Southee scripts T20I history against Pakistan | NZ vs PAK

New Zealand pacer Tim Southee has now become the first-ever bowler to take 150 wickets in T20 internationals.

The feat came as Kiwis bundled out Pakistan in 18 overs in the first T20I on Friday to win by 46 runs.

Southee is trailed by Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who have 140 and 130 T20 wickets respectively.

Southee ended the innings against Pakistan with impressive figures, sealing a 4-wicket haul while only conceding 25 runs. Adam Milne, Ben Sears and Ish Sodhi scalped the remaining batters.

Veteran bowler Southee made his T20I debut for New Zealand in 2008 and has played 118 games in the shortest format.

Southee has bowled 427 overs in his T20I career at an average of 8.12.

Kane Williamson praised Southee’s performance after the victory. “A special mention to Tim Southee, that was a remarkable spell.”

“He has been around for a long, long time, credit to his performances. Pretty good to have him out there with other youngsters,' the skipper concluded.
