Mohammed Shami calls Virat Kohli 'best batsman' and Rohit Sharma 'most dangerous' in the world

Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami has openly expressed his deep respect for two of cricket's luminaries, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. In a statement filled with admiration, Shami declared Virat Kohli as the unparalleled "best batsman in the world" while heaping praise on Kohli's knack for surpassing records. Simultaneously, Shami bestowed the title of "the most dangerous batter in the world" upon Rohit Sharma, highlighting the Indian skipper's potent threat to opponents when wielding the bat.

The accolades come in the wake of Rohit Sharma's leadership in the recent Vizag Test against England, where India clinched a 106-run victory, evening out the series at 1-1. On another front, Virat Kohli is currently unavailable, choosing to miss the initial matches against England, citing personal reasons linked to his family.

Shami's admiration was vocalized during an interview with News18, where he stated, "Virat Kohli is the best batsman in the world. Virat has just broken a lot of records. I feel Virat is the best and Rohit Sharma is the most dangerous batter in the world."

Beyond his commendations for Kohli and Sharma, Shami also reflected on his own journey, particularly his standout role in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. With 24 wickets to his name, Shami was the tournament's top wicket-taker, a feat that has magnified his profile. Despite his personal success, Shami humbly attributes the Indian team's recent achievements to the collective efforts and evolution of its fast bowlers since 2013-2014.

Discussing the broader trajectory of India's bowling capabilities, Shami highlighted the significant progress made over the years, culminating in a formidable fast bowling contingent at the 2023 World Cup. He emphasized the importance of setting a high benchmark for future generations, saying, "People talk about the performance of the bowlers during the World Cup, but, if you have to look at the overall picture, you have to go back to 2013 and 2014. That is where the journey started. If we look at the facts now, we only had three fast bowlers performing in the World Cup this time, which makes us believe that we have set the benchmark for future bowlers."
