Melbourne Stars' Sam Harper hospitalized after head Injury during training

Sam Harper, the wicketkeeper for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, was rushed to the hospital following a head injury incurred during a training session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday. The 27-year-old cricketer was reported to be conscious and in stable condition but required hospitalization for further examination and scans.

Melbourne Stars released an official statement regarding Harper's condition, requesting privacy for the player while promising to keep the public informed about his health status. "Sam Harper was struck in the head while batting at training this evening at the MCG and subsequently taken to hospital in a stable condition," the club announced.

They emphasized the need to respect Harper's privacy during this time and assured that further updates would be provided as information becomes available.

The incident occurred as Harper was preparing for his team's upcoming game against the Sydney Sixers. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the injury happened when Harper was attempting to execute a cross-bat shot in the nets. The ball tragically lodged under the grill of his helmet, resulting in a severe cut near his throat.

Following the incident, the Melbourne Stars immediately ceased their training session.
