Kohli should give up captaincy from all formats, to enjoy remaining cricket: Shahid Afridi

With no ICC trophies in hand, Virat Kohli's leadership qualities are now under the radar and the former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi feels that if the 33-year-old batsman gives up captaincy from all formats he will enjoy his remaining cricket.

Virat Kohli who hasn't scored a single Test ton since late 2019, recently gave up the T20 captaincy. He also relinquished his role as the skipper at Royal Challengers Bangalore. The talks around the town further hint that the batter might leave his post in the ODI and Test format as well.

Speaking to a local media channel, Afridi praised Kohli's game but suggested he steps down from being the captain. 'I think Virat should step down as a captain and just enjoy his remaining cricket, which I think aplenty, he said.

Lauding Rohit Sharma's skills who has been appointed as the T20 skipper, Afridi said that he has the mentality to be a good leader and his biggest asset is he can stay relaxed where required and show aggression when needed most.
