IPL Media Rights Auction: Bidding goes past Rs 43,000 Crores on Day 1

The bidding for IPL media rights has already crossed the 43,000 Crore mark on day 1 of the auction. Each game in the IPL is now valued at more than 100 crores when you combine the TV and digital rights.


As things stand, the combined value of the TV & digital rights could near the 50,000-crore mark on Monday. The value of the rights has already increased over 2.5 times from the previous cycle.


According to various media reports, the first day of the auction saw as many as four broadcasters submit the bids for TV and digital rights for the next five years. The bidding that will continue on Monday, currently stands at Rs 43,050 crores or 105 crore per match for the combined value of TV and digital rights.


As per reports, the highest bid for TV rights at the end of Day 1 was Rs 57 crores per match which is Rs 23,370 crores in total. Meanwhile, the digital rights fetched Rs 48 crores per match or Rs 19,680 crores for five years.
