IPL games could be hosted in neutral venues from next season

A few IPL games from the next season could be played at neutral venues to help the small cricket associations financially, a BCCI official told Indian Express.

The suggestion came up during BCCI's Annual General Meeting that took place in Kolkata last week. The associations requested that each IPL team should play at least 2 games on neutral venues to help them financially.

This came after BCCI asked associations to develop infrastructure to host more international games. However, Several small cricket associations highlighted that despite having a well-equipped facility, they suffered financially, and hence the associations put forward the demand.

As per BCCI's rotation policy, each association gets to host 1 international game in a span of 3 years. But due to a large number of games, currently 24, many stadiums get chances after a span of 4 years.

A few IPL teams play on neutral venues, as Punjab plays in Dharamshala and Indore, Delhi in Raipur, and Chennai shifted its games to Ranchi, Dhoni's hometown.
