India vs WI, 2nd Test Preview: All eyes on Virat Kohli in his 500th international match | IND vs WI

While Indian captain Rohit Sharma has already ruled out making any major changes to their winning combination from the first Test, Axar Patel could get a game if the conditions aid spin bowling once again.

India vs WI, 2nd Test Preview: All eyes on Virat Kohli in his 500th international match | IND vs WI

The second Test between India and the West Indies in Trinidad holds special significance as it will mark the 100th Test between the two teams. Indian captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged that it will be a big occasion even as his team are the runaway favorites to secure a 2-0 series win.

Following the Test at the Queen's Park Oval, India's next Test match will only be during the tour of South Africa in December-January. This gives players like Ajinkya Rahane just one opportunity to make it extremely hard for selectors to keep him out, especially when Shreyas Iyer is likely to be available for the South Africa tour.

The focus, however, will once again be on Virat Kohli, who will be playing in his 500th international match. The Indian superstar is determined to make a big impact after his gritty 76-run innings in the series opener. Kohli, who has not scored an overseas Test century since December 2018, will be eager to make a significant contribution in his milestone match.

While skipper Rohit Sharma has ruled out major changes, India might consider including Axar Patel if the pitch once again favors spin bowling. In such a scenario, Jaydev Unadkat or Shardul Thakur could make way to accommodate Axar in the playing XI.
