India vs New Zealand: Covid norms flouted as BCCI organises first match without stadium cap

The India-New Zealand game that took place in Jaipur on Wednesday was the first international match that the country hosted since the 2nd wave, and no Covid-19 regulations were being followed at the venue.

While there was no crowd restriction, the audience was allowed to enter the Sawai Mansingh Stadium with a negative RTPCR and a vaccination certificate for watching the series opener. However, the RTPCR reports or vaccination certificates were not even checked at the entrance, reported the Indian Express.

Although there was no stadium cap for the match, only 25000 seats were occupied in Jaipur's stadium. The report further said that the police guarding the venue and the fans, all were seen without facial covering.

Since the pandemic began, the India-NZ T20 series opener was the first game where there was no cap on stadium capacity. The India England game had a 50% cap, before cases rose in the nation, after which the matches were played behind closed doors.
