India Vs England: WATCH! Captain Rohit Sharma calls out Kapil Dev on his 'drop Virat Kohli' remark

Team India captain Rohit Sharma has put his weight behind Virat Kohli, despite the former Indian captain struggling for runs on the tour of England.

Shutting down the critics, Rohit Sharma said that every cricketer goes through a rough patch, but the player's quality matters the most.

The 33-year-old ex-skipper who joined the team in the 2nd T20I vs England had replaced an in-form Deepak Hooda in the Indian XI. However, Kohli failed to put up a big score in his two outings of the series. He scored a single in the 2nd T20I and 11 off 6 (including a 6 and a 4) in the 3rd T20I.

A lot of former cricketers, including Kapil Dev, have questioned Virat Kohli's selection in the side. However, Rohit Sharma feels that Kohli deserves the spot in the playing XI.

Speaking at the post-match presser, Sharma responded to Kapil Dev's comment about 'dropping Virat Kohli'.

'They are watching the game from outside, they do not know what is going on inside. We have a thought process, we make the team, we discuss it a lot, and a lot of thinking goes behind it. Players are backed, they are given chances. People from outside never get to know all of this, and hence what is happening outside is not important to me, whatever discussion is happening inside is more important," he said.
