India vs England: Rishabh Pant saves India the blemishes with his 5th Test hundred, smash many records

Rishabh Pant did it again. The 24-year-old once again came to India's rescue and saved the day with his 5th Test hundred in the 1st innings of the Birmingham Test vs England.

He reached his ton off just 89 balls, which is the fastest hundred by an Indian wicketkeeper in the history of Test cricket. It seemed like Pant had never left England when the 5th Test was rescheduled 10 months ago, as he developed his liking for Jack Leech all over again and smashed him for sixes at will. With 4 maximums in his knock, Pant also became the youngest Indian to complete 100 sixes in international cricket. Apart from that, he also became the youngest wicketkeeper to cross the 2000-run milestone in Test cricket.

The southpaw from Delhi walked out to bat with India in trouble at 71/4. He then put up a 222-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja. It's now the highest 6th-wicket partnership for India vs England. Pant was eventually dismissed for a 111-ball-146 but his innings put India back on track in the all-important Test.
