India tour of England: Cheteshwar Pujara makes an unwanted record, struggle vs Anderson continues

India tour of England: Cheteshwar Pujara makes an unwanted record, struggle vs Anderson continues

The cricketing world may see James Anderson as Virat Kohli's nemeses but it seems that it was Cheteshwar Pujara who was the fast bowler's bunny all this while.

Pujara opened the innings for India in the 5th Test vs England but couldn't impress and was out for just 13. Once again falling to James Anderson, who has now dismissed the Indian batter 12 times in Tests, the most number of times he has got a batter out in whites.

Moreover, Pujara has had a disastrous run in the 1st innings of this Test series and was out for single-digit scores in the 1st innings in each of the first 4 Tests, which were played 10 months ago. Interestingly, he was out to Anderson in each of those knocks as well.

Pujara was dropped from the Indian Test team after the 3-match Test series vs South Africa in January 2022 following a string of below-par performances. He missed the home Test series vs Sri Lanka and then went to play for English County side Sussex. The 34-year-old had an exceptional run there and smashed 2 double hundred and 2 tons in 4 games. As a result, he was once again included in the Test side to face England.
