India Vs England: Coach Rahul Dravid voices support for Virat Kohli

Ahead of the fifth and final Test against England at Edgbaston, coach Rahul Dravid has once again come to the defence of former India captain Virat Kohli.

Kohli, who hasn't scored an international hundred since November 2019, has come under fire for his average returns with the bat in recent times.

However, Coach Rahul Dravid has put his weight behind the Indian batsman, stating how every player goes through rough periods during his career.

He said, "Every player goes through such phases, Virat Kohli is going through that. It's not about focusing on the three figures; people see hundreds as success but we want match-winning contributions."

Dravid emphasised why Kohli matters to Team India: "The way Virat Kohli played in the practice match he's ticking all the right boxes. He's the most hard-working guy I have come across.

"He added, "Kohli inspires a lot of people in the dressing room."

Kohli scored 33 & 67 in the warm-up game against Leicestershire and India will be hoping their star batsman can fire them to glory in the Birmingham Test.
