IND vs WI: India continue to experiment ahead of the World T20, Rohit ready to sacrifice the opening slot

Rohit Sharma has his eyes set on the World T20 later in the year as his experiment to try out young players continue. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan opened in the 3rd T20I vs WI as Rohit batted down the order

IND vs WI: India continue to experiment ahead of the World T20, Rohit ready to sacrifice the opening slot

Rohit Sharma had made it clear that the team management was determined to try as many players as possible ahead of the World T20 and the India skipper continued to be true to his words.

As Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were rested for the 3rd and final T20I vs the West Indies, Rohit brought in Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shreyas Iyer. Not just that, the Hitman sacrificed his usual opening slot to let Gaikwad face the new ball. Though the experiment didn't work and he was out for 4, Rohit let Shreyas Iyer come in at number 3 and pushed himself further down the order. The newly appointed KKR captain bats one down in the IPL as well.

The new all-format skipper is considerate towards the bowlers as well. After giving Ravi Bishnoi his India cap in the T20 series, pacer Avesh Khan also made his India debut in the 3rd T20I.

Clearly, Rohit and the team management want to give young players the confidence they deserve by letting them bat at positions where they are comfortable.
