IND vs WI 2nd ODI: Axar Patel's heroics help India take unassailable 2-0 lead in Caribbean

Shikhar Dhawan led-Team India made history in the Caribbean Islands as they claimed their 12th consecutive bilateral series win against West Indies on Sunday.

Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer along with Axar Patel scored a half-century each as the visitors snatched a 2-wicket win with just 2 balls to spare in the second ODI in Port of Spain. With the win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against West Indies.

Chasing a daunting 312-run target, the visitors lost their captain Shikhar Dhawan after a 48-run opening stand. India were tottering at 79-3 with Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav back in the pavilion. But a 99-run stand between Shreyas Iyer and Sanju Samson put Men In Blues' chase back on track. The hosts, however, clawed themselves back into the game with the wicket of Iyer and Samson. Thereafter, Deepak Hooda along with Axar Patel kept the momentum going for India with Axar hitting the ball from the word go. Despite losing partners from the other end, Axar kept finding the crucial boundaries till the end and finished the game with a six. His unbeaten 35-ball 64, ultimately made the difference as India scampered home with two balls to spare.
