BCCI makes a U-turn, Virat Kohli's 100th Test in Mohali to now have 50% crowd

Making a U-turn, the BCCI on Tuesday gave a green signal to the Punjab Cricket Association to host the 1st Test, Virat Kohli's 100th, between India and Sri Lanka with a 50% capacity.

Earlier, the match was to be played behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 situation in and around Mohali. It literally gives PCA just 2 days to sell the tickets before the 1st Test starts on Friday.

Confirming the news, BCCI secretary Jay Shah stated that he was looking forward to Kohli's 100th Test. 'The decision to allow spectators into the ground is one taken by the State Cricketing Associations and in the present circumstances, is based on various factors,' added Shah.

Last week, PCA treasurer RP Singla told the PTI that fans will be barred from attending the first Test as the decision was taken in line with a directive from the BCCI. It had left Virat supporters angry.
