BCCI considering Dubai for IPL 2024 auction in December: Report

The anticipation for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction is building, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is leaning toward Dubai as the venue. According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI has narrowed down the potential dates for the IPL auction to a window between December 15 and 19. Preceding this, the auction for the Women's Premier League (WPL) is expected to be held on December 9, with its venue likely to be in India.

Although formal notifications to the franchises are pending, the report states that discussions within the cricketing circles indicate that the IPL auction in Dubai is highly probable, with December 18 or 19 as the preferred dates, even if they fall on weekdays.

The BCCI had previously contemplated hosting the auction in Istanbul last year but ultimately opted for Kochi. Similar to last year, the Dubai plan remains tentative, yet all IPL franchises have been informed of the consideration of Dubai as the auction's location.

As the trading window remains open, no reports of player exchanges among IPL franchises have surfaced. The culmination of the three-year window brings an element of uncertainty regarding significant trades. However, some high-earning players who made limited contributions in the last IPL season might potentially be released.

Meanwhile, The BCCI has not yet communicated the venue and dates for the Women's Premier League (WPL) auction to team owners. Speculations suggest that the WPL could be scheduled for February this year.

Details about whether the WPL will be hosted in a single city, following the pattern of the previous year when the entire league took place in Mumbai, or if it will span multiple locations this time, are yet to be confirmed.
