Australia's Glenn Maxwell says light shows horrible but David Warner doesn't think so | World Cup 2023

David Warner and Glenn Maxwell reveal what light shows meant to them following a display at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 25.

Australia's centurions David Warner and Glenn Maxwell helped their team get over the finish line but there were some things that they couldn't agree on.

During the drinks break on Wednesday as Netherlands were chasing the mammoth total, Delhi's Arun Jaitley Stadium went dark, making way to flashing, colorful lights.

Maxwell was seen covering his eyes immediately. He later revealed that he is not a big fan of light shows.

Calling them a horrible idea, he said, 'It takes a while for eyes to readjust and it's the dumbest idea for cricketers. Definitely it's great for the fans, but horrible for the players.'

He went on to narrate an old incident from a Big Bash League game.

'Well, I had something like that light show similar happened at Perth Stadium during a Big Bash game and I just felt like it gave me shocking headaches and it takes me a while for my eyes to readjust.'

'So I just try and cover up as much as I possibly can and ignore it but it's a horrible, horrible idea.' Maxwell concluded.

But teammate David Warner was quick to disagree.

Responding to a journalist's post on social media X about Maxwell's opinion, he said, 'I absolutely loved the light show, what an atmosphere. It’s all about the fans. Without you all we won’t be able to do what we love.'

Maxwell also revealed that he was already not feeling well during Australia's innings.

'Yeah, not great. I was sitting in the changing room and I didn't really want to bat, which is a bit different than last game where I was way too eager to get out there,' he said.

Maxwell scored a ton versus Netherlands in just 40 balls, the fastest-ever in ODI World Cup history.
