In his column in the Telegraph, Boycott wrote, 'Now Australia is 3-0 up and the Ashes have gone, will Root please stop saying Australia is not much better than us? I don't mind him living in cuckoo land but stop trying to kid us'

The former cricketer said that if Root believes in what he says then he must step down. England can't bat and the bowling is ordinary, he added. He also called out the skipper's decision of not playing James Anderson and Stuart Broad who have over 1100 Test wickets between them.

England who went down in front of towering Australia can now redeem themselves in Sydney and Hobart in the last 2 Test matches. The next Test begins on 5th January at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
