Ashes Fourth Test at Sydney to go as planned: New South Wales health minister

The New South Wales health minister Brad Hazzard termed Australia's new year Test as sacred and said that the fourth Ashes Test will go as planned despite the rising Covid-19 cases in the state.

The fourth Ashes Test is scheduled to be played at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 5.

The minister said that he want to assure the cricket fans, under the government's rules any players with exposure to a known Covid-19 case would be asked to test and isolate until a negative result was received.

He further added that if there are any cases within the teams, their support staff, or families, the New South Wales govt will work with the people involved to ensure their safety.

According to the Covid-19 regulations in New South Wales, it is mandatory to spend seven days in isolation if anyone is found to be in close contact with a positive case.

Notably, four non-playing members of the England camp had tested positive on Day 2 of the third Ashes Test. However, all the English and Australian players returned negative Covid-19 tests on Day 3 as Australia took an unassailable 3-0 lead and retained the Urn.
