Ashes 2023: How cricket world reacted to England's series-levelling win in Stuart Broad's final Test

In a thrilling conclusion to the Ashes series, Stuart Broad, the veteran English cricketer, delivered a stunning performance by taking the last two wickets, leading England to a series-tying victory on Day 5 of the fifth Test against Australia on Monday.

The Ashes series, filled with excitement and drama, reached its climax as England mounted a remarkable recovery in the final session, dismissing the Australians for 334 runs while chasing a daunting target of 384. The victory earned England a 49-run win at The Oval, leveling the series at 2-2.

In a perfect swansong to his illustrious cricket career, Broad played a pivotal role in wrapping up the Australian innings by removing Todd Murphy and Alex Carey. This achievement elevated his career wicket tally to 604, placing him fourth on the all-time list of wicket-takers. The 37-year-old paceman had earlier announced his retirement after this test, and his final performance was nothing short of extraordinary.

Australia, despite not losing the series and retaining the urn as the holders, will rue a missed opportunity after securing a 2-0 lead with victories in the first two tests. Their quest for an Ashes series win in England since 2001 remains unfulfilled.

The Ashes series will be remembered as one for the ages, and Stuart Broad's magnificent farewell added an extra layer of significance to the finale. The cricket fraternity celebrated Broad's memorable contribution and lauded the contest between the two sides.
