Ashes 2023, ENG vs AUS: Is Ben Stokes a similar finisher as MS Dhoni? Ricky Ponting thinks so

Ben Stokes is one of the finest finishers in cricket currently but Ricky Ponting feels that his match-winning ability is similar to that of MS Dhoni.

In the latest episode of The ICC Review, the former Australian captain said, 'The first one that comes to mind is maybe someone like a Dhoni, who's there at the end in a lot of T20 games, and finishing games, whereas Ben's doing it at the end of Test matches. There are probably not many players through the history of the game who have found themselves in that sort of role and are there at the end winning games, especially as a captain.'

In the 2019 Ashes series, Stokes single-handedly won England the Leeds Test with an unbeaten 135 in the 2nd innings.

He almost pulled a similar win at Lord's in the 2nd Ashes Test this time but his 155 went in vain.
