Akash Deep steps in for Shivam Mavi, Pooja Vastrakar replaces Anjali Sarvani in Asian Games 2023 squads

Bengal pacer Akash Deep has been chosen as the replacement for the injured Shivam Mavi in the Indian men's squad for the Asian Games 2023.

Shivam Mavi had to withdraw due to a back injury, as confirmed by the BCCI in an official statement.

The women's selection committee, meanwhile, picked Pooja Vastrakar as the replacement for Anjali Sarvani. Pooja Vastrakar was initially on the standby list of players.

Anjali Sarvani, a left-arm pacer, has been ruled out due to a knee injury. The women's cricket event will begin on September 19.

Both the men's and women's competitions will take place in the T20 format.

Indian women's squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Smriti Mandhana (vc), Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh (wk), Amanjot Kaur, Devika Vaidya, Titas Sadhu, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Minnu Mani, Kanika Ahuja, Uma Chetry (wk), Anusha Bareddy, Pooja Vastrakar.
