Navratri 2023: Importance and significance of day 6; worshipping Maa Katyayani

Navratri is a special nine-day celebration. People across the country enthusiastically celebrate this festival. During Shardiya Navratri, which lasts for nine days, devotees fast, pray to different forms of Goddess Durga each day, recite prayers, make special foods, and enjoy various festive activities.

On the sixth day of Navratri, devotees worship Maa Katyayani, who is the sixth form of Maa Durga.

Maa Katyayani is usually shown riding a lion and glowing with golden skin that's brighter than a thousand suns. She has four hands – two holding a sword and a lotus flower, and the other two making a reassuring gesture.

As explained by Vedic Astrology Teacher & Counsellor, Bani Singh Chadha, Maa Katyayani's four hands represent 4 different Vedas and eras. Devotees can offer her white colour things, as white is the colour of purity and peace. She mentioned that worshipping her helps to stay calm.
