Is napping bad for you? This new study has some insights to share

Do you love taking naps in the afternoon or any time of the day? Stop right there! According to a study published in the American Heart Association journal Hypertension, frequent napping may be linked to a higher risk of high blood pressure and stroke.

For the study, researchers analysed data of nearly 3,60,000 UK adults for 11 years. They compared napping habits with blood pressure and stroke risk.

The team found that participants who routinely napped during the day had a 12% higher risk of developing high blood pressure and a 24% increased risk of stroke compared to those who never napped.

Data also suggested that the risk would increase if participants who never napped did so occasionally or if they went from napping sometimes to often.
