Hina Khan diagnosed with breast cancer: What are the main symptoms, preventive measures?

Hina Khan revealed on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The actor is currently undergoing treatment and has asked fans to give them privacy and send them prayers.

Breast cancer is the cancer that starts in the breast. It can start in one or both breasts. Here are some of the common symptoms and preventive measures.

What are the symptoms of breast cancer?

As per a report by the American Cancer Society, the first symptom to look out for is a lump or mass in your breast. A hard mass with irregular edges is the more common symptom of breast cancer though some cancers can also result in tender and painful lumps

Some other symptoms of cancer are:

Swelling of all or part of a breast, skin dimpling, breast or nipple pain, red, dry, flaking, or thickened nipple and/or breast skin, nipple turning inwards and nipple discharge.

Make sure to consult a doctor if you notice any changes in your breast.

What are some preventive measures?

Make sure to know how your breast feels, so that any changes are immediately noticed. You should also go for regular breast cancer screenings as mammograms are not foolproof.

As per a report by Mayo Clinic, a few lifestyle changes may work as preventive measures. Some important lifestyle changes are:

1. Limiting alcohol intake
   2. Abstaining from smoking
   3. Maintaining a healthy weight
   4. Enjoying an active lifestyle
   5. Breastfeeding if you're a mother
   6. Keep hormone therapy post-menopause to a minimum

Hina Khan left fans tensed after she announced that she had been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The actor's Instagram post read, "Hello Everyone, To address the recent rumour, I want to share some important news with all the Hinaholics and everyone who loves and cares for me. I have been diagnosed with Stage Three Breast Cancer. Despite this challenging diagnosis, I want to reassure everyone that I am doing well. I am strong, determined, and fully committed to overcoming this disease. My treatment has already begun, and I am ready to do everything necessary to emerge from this even stronger (sic)."

Her note further read, "I kindly ask for your respect and privacy during this time. I deeply appreciate your love, strength, and blessings. Your personal experiences, anecdotes, and supportive suggestions would mean the world to me as I navigate this journey. I, along with my family and loved ones, remain focused, determined, and positive. With the grace of the Almighty, we believe I will overcome this challenge and be completely healthy. Please send your prayers, blessings. and love. Love, Hina (sic)."
