During the monsoon season, the high humidity levels can cause your kitchen spices to spoil quickly. Moisture in the air can lead to clumping, mould growth, and loss of flavour. But fret not, try Chef Pankaj Bhadouria's remedies to keep them safe.

Store them in airtight containers in a cool place to maintain their aroma for years. If you've ground spices in excess then you can store them in small packets in the refrigerator.

Tips to keep spices safe in monsoon

Store in Airtight Containers: Use airtight containers to prevent moisture from seeping in and spoiling the spices.

Keep in a Cool, Dry Place: Avoid storing spices near stoves or windows where they might be exposed to heat and humidity. A cool, dry pantry is ideal.

Avoid Direct Sunlight: Keep spices away from direct sunlight, which can degrade their quality and reduce their shelf life.

Refrigerate Excess Ground Spices: If you've ground spices in bulk, store them in small packets and refrigerate to prolong their freshness.

Use Silica Gel Packets: Place silica gel packets in your spice containers to absorb any excess moisture.

Regularly Check and Stir: Periodically check your spices for any signs of moisture or mold and stir them to ensure they stay dry.

Buy in Small Quantities: Purchase spices in smaller quantities during the monsoon to ensure they are used up quickly and remain fresh.
