Returning to office? 5 eating tips to maintain healthy habits at work

As offices reopen, you might find it harder to keep up with healthy habits built during the work from home months. But a little bit of structure can help you maintain and even build good eating habits at work.

Returning to office? 5 eating tips to maintain healthy habits at work

After months of working from the comfort of our homes with no temptations from colleagues and the office pantry, many of us have naturally developed fairly healthy eating habits.

As offices reopen and we return to the same old commute and hours at the desk, you might find it harder to maintain healthy eating habits at work.

But don’t you worry! You can absolutely maintain or even build good eating habits at work with a little bit of structure. Keep watching for five steps you can take right now to stay healthy at work!

How to eat healthy at the office

1. Be bullish for breakfast

Start your day with a filling breakfast so that you’re not starving by noon. Plan ahead for some healthy homemade oatmeal, poha, upma, paratha or have a smoothie on the go! A wholesome breakfast will give you the energy to work harder and regulate your blood sugar levels.

2. Go for H2O

With soda cans and coffee machines nearby, it is easy to forget that sometimes water is all you need to quench that thirst! Keep your favourite water bottle at your desk and if needed, use an app to remind you to stay hydrated.

3. Don’t eat with screens

Desktop dining has become a default for many in the workplace. But research shows that eating with your co-workers is a great way to improve work relationships and boost well-being. If eating with the team isn’t your jam, then go for a walk and use your break to get some fresh air!

4. Set meal timings

We’ve all been there! If you don’t have scheduled lunch breaks, it's easy to put off your meals for something more urgent. But it’s important to space out your meals and snacks properly. If you want to stay productive, set proper timings for your meals and use reminders to stay on track!

5. Good snacks are essential

When you’re busy, finding a healthy snack isn’t exactly a priority. To stop yourself from reaching out for the most convenient thing, keep some healthy options like mixed nuts, fresh or dried fruits, or a clean protein bar with you at all times.
