Navratri 2024: Don't let fasting increase your blood sugar level, here are tips for diabetics

This year Shardiya Navratri is going to begin on 3rd October and will go on for 9 days. Many devotees fast for all the nine days but you are diabetic, you must keep some important things in mind while fasting.

Here are some important tips for diabetics

To maintain good health and control your blood sugar level during Navratri, monitor your blood sugar levels regularly. Ensure your diet includes an appropriate balance of carbohydrates, fiber, and protein. Prioritize getting enough sleep and rest. Keep yourself well hydrated with water and natural drinks like coconut water or buttermilk.

Avoid too much caffeine and sugary drinks like packaged juice or aerated drinks. Instead of consuming deep-fried pooris or pakodas, consider making rotis with healthier flours like buckwheat or Singhada atta and pair it with dahi, as deep-fried foods can elevate sugar levels. Consult your healthcare expert before you start fasting or in case of any health issues.
