West Bengal's Telemedicine Initiative Surpasses 7 Crore Consultations

Kolkata, Nov 17 (PTI) — On Monday, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a significant achievement in the state's healthcare sector, with the ‘Swasthya Ingit’ telemedicine initiative hitting the milestone of over 7 crore consultations.

"Healthcare in West Bengal has reached another major milestone," Banerjee stated on X, highlighting that the #Swasthyaingit program, an innovative Government of West Bengal initiative, successfully bridges the gap between remote areas and advanced health facilities via telemedicine, having recently surpassed 7 crore consultations.

The program plays a pivotal role by connecting remote and underserved regions to specialized medical care, underpinned by an extensive network of health centres, hubs, and doctors throughout the state.

"This initiative facilitates daily teleconsultations, operating through 11,000+ health and wellness centres and 63 hubs at advanced health facilities," the Chief Minister noted. "It enables over 80,000 consultations every day with more than 9,000 doctors, thereby transforming affordable and accessible healthcare in West Bengal," she added.
