CM Dhami unveils poster of ‘Baulya Kaka’; highlights Uttarakhand’s film-friendly policies

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled the poster of the upcoming film Baulya Kaka at the Secretariat on Monday.

The film features renowned Bollywood actor Hemant Pandey in the lead role and has been extensively shot in the scenic and remote villages of Uttarakhand, including Gwaldam, Tharali, and Talwari.

Extending his best wishes to the film’s team, CM Dhami lauded their efforts and highlighted the state's growing appeal as a film production destination.

According to a press note shared by the Chief Minister’s Office, discussions were held with the makers of Baulya Kaka on the scope and opportunities of film production in Uttarakhand, along with the incentives provided by the state government.

The Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment to promoting filmmaking in the region. “The state government has implemented the ‘Uttarakhand New Film Policy’,” he said, emphasizing that the policy is aimed at encouraging film production, creating employment opportunities for local youth, and giving a boost to tourism.

The press note stated that under the new policy, producers are offered a range of benefits — from subsidies and tax exemptions to logistical support — to facilitate smooth film shoots in the state. CM Dhami added, “The state government is constantly trying to encourage the production of films in Uttarakhand.”

With Uttarakhand becoming a favoured destination for filmmakers, the government is paying special attention to enhancing both film shooting and tourism, the note added. The state reportedly sets a new record each year in terms of the number of films shot.

Efforts are also underway to transform Uttarakhand into a major filmmaking hub. The press note stated that filmmakers are being offered an additional 5 per cent incentive subsidy for choosing lesser-known locations in the state. Moreover, a special subsidy is being provided to film producers who actively involve local artists in their projects.
