UP CM Yogi Adityanath launches Rs 2,251 crore investment projects in Gorakhpur’s GIDA region

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for industrial and development projects worth ₹2,251 crore in the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) region, marking a major boost for Eastern Uttar Pradesh’s industrial landscape.

The projects included the Bhoomi Pujan of Coca-Cola’s bottling plant and the inauguration of a new unit of Technoplast, a leading plastic product packaging company.

Addressing the gathering at GIDA’s Plastic Park, the Chief Minister underlined the state’s changing investment climate. “When security is ensured, investment follows. Investment creates jobs, which in turn bring prosperity, and prosperity paves the way for happiness. Our government is ensuring prosperity through security,” he said.

Attack on Opposition

CM Yogi accused the previous SP government of fostering lawlessness and discouraging investment. “During the SP government, entrepreneurs were exploited and goonda tax was rampant. Today, no one dares to do this. If anyone tries, they will find Yamraj waiting at the next crossing,” he remarked.

He alleged that the earlier regime pushed the state into riots and divided society on caste lines. “Those who failed to bring development when they had power cannot be expected to do so in the future either,” he added.

On national politics, the Chief Minister criticized opposition leaders over derogatory remarks made in Bihar against the Prime Minister’s mother. “Insulting the Prime Minister’s mother is an insult to 140 crore Indians and to every mother. New India will never accept such disgrace,” he said.

He also targeted the INDI alliance, stating, “Whenever the opposition wins elections through EVMs, the BJP accepts the verdict gracefully; however, when the BJP wins, they start blaming EVMs and voter lists. Sweet talk and bitter spit will not work.” He added, “The INDI alliance survives only on the politics of appeasement.”

Employment and Growth

Highlighting progress in job creation, CM Yogi said over 60,000 policemen have been recruited recently, including many from Gorakhpur. He also announced 2,538 appointments of lady supervisors and fresh drives for sub-inspectors and other posts. “Our effort is to make sure no youth of Uttar Pradesh has to seek employment outside the state,” he stressed.

The Chief Minister further revealed plans to establish an employment zone named after Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 100 acres in every district. These zones will offer training and jobs aligned with youth interests, building an industrial ecosystem statewide.

Industrial Push in GIDA

The Coca-Cola Amrit Bottlers plant, spread over 40 acres with an investment of ₹700 crore, is expected to create 1,200 jobs. In its first phase, the plant will produce Coca-Cola’s popular brands, including Thums Up, Fanta, Sprite, Maaza, and Kinley.

CM Yogi also laid foundation stones for new units worth ₹640 crore—APL Apollo Tubes Limited, Greentech Bharat Pvt Ltd (SLMG Group), and Kapila Agro Industries—which will together provide jobs to around 1,200 people.

Inaugurations included three units in the state’s first Plastic Park at GIDA: Technoplast Packaging Pvt Ltd (₹96 crore investment, 250 jobs), Omflex Industries Pvt Ltd (₹17 crore), and Gajanan Poly Plast (₹7 crore). With these, plastic products from Gorakhpur will now reach markets nationwide.

The CM also announced the upcoming Skill Training Centre and Common Facility Centre (CIPET) in the Plastic Park at a cost of ₹16 crore. This will provide diplomas, degrees, and specialized training to local youth. In addition, a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) worth ₹199 crore will be set up on 11.15 acres in Adilapar to recycle wastewater for factories and agriculture.

Infrastructure and Housing

Alongside industrial projects, infrastructure works worth ₹281 crore were launched, including new roads, drains, culverts, street lighting, and electrical systems. CM Yogi also distributed allotment letters for beneficiaries of the ₹400 crore Kalesar Housing Scheme and handed over industrial plot letters to investors, including Ambuja Cement (Adani Group), Shreyas Distilleries, and Energy Pvt Ltd.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the new investments in GIDA will generate over 15,000 jobs, while already allotted plots will bring in ₹5,903 crore and around 10,000 more jobs. “Viksit UP, Viksit India” will become the mantra of the century’s resolution, he said, reaffirming his government’s commitment to Vision @2047.

The event was attended by State Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Sahjanwa MLA Pradeep Shukla, MLA Vipin Singh, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Srivastava, BJP State Vice President and MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, along with several other public representatives, industrialists, and officials.
