Shiv Sena (UBT) Stages Tractor Rally Against Unfulfilled Promises in Maharashtra

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jun 11 (PTI) — On Wednesday, the opposition faction Shiv Sena (UBT) orchestrated a tractor rally in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The purpose of the demonstration was to shed light on the perceived "failure" of the Mahayuti government to fulfill electoral promises made to farmers, such as the implementation of a crop loan waiver.

The protest was organized as part of the 'kya hua tera vaada' (what happened to your promises) campaign, a week-long initiative aiming to draw attention to the unmet assurances given by the BJP-led administration.

The procession, spearheaded by the Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, commenced from Kranti Chowk and concluded at the Divisional Commissioner office located in the Delhi Gate area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, central Maharashtra.

Addressing the media amidst the demonstration, Danve remarked, "Tehsil-wise tractor rallies were organized on Wednesday. We are posing the question, 'kya hua tera vaada', to the government for their inability to fulfill the commitments made to farmers during the assembly elections held in November last year." The pledges included not just a farm loan waiver but also the introduction of a comprehensive crop insurance scheme, noted Danve, a Shiv Sena (UBT) legislator.

"Previously, the Mahayuti promised remunerative prices for crops and an increase in the annual payout to farmers to the tune of Rs 15,000 under the Kisan Samman Nidhi. These commitments, along with others, remain unaccomplished," he stated.

"After making these promises, ministers resort to issuing misleading and evasive statements. This indicates they have neglected their own promises," Danve commented.

"Through this agitation, we intend to remind the government of its vows and inquire about what happened to those assurances," he asserted.
