Punjab Vigilance Bureau Nabs ASI in Bribery Case

In a firm demonstration of its commitment to eradicating corruption, the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann, has once again taken decisive action through its Vigilance Bureau (VB). On Tuesday, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Malkeet Singh, posted at the Kili Nihal Singh Wala police post in Bathinda district, was arrested for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹5,000.

The arrest followed a complaint lodged by Mandeep Singh, a resident of the same village, who informed the VB that the ASI had demanded a bribe to submit a favourable report regarding a complaint filed by the Irrigation Department. The Vigilance Bureau acted swiftly, laying a trap, and caught the ASI red-handed while accepting the bribe in the presence of two official witnesses.

Powering the state's anti-corruption agenda, CM Bhagwant Mann’s government has sent a strong message through this operation. The zero-tolerance policy against corruption ensures that no one, irrespective of their position, will be spared from strict legal action. This arrest further strengthens the administration’s resolve to eliminate corrupt practices and restore public faith in governance.

A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused, and investigations are ongoing. The Punjab Government's aggressive crackdown on corruption is poised to set a new standard in transparent governance.
