Punjab pride: 40 government school students clear JEE Advanced

In a monumental feat, forty students from different government schools of the state have achieved a remarkable milestone by clearing the highly competitive Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, paving the way for them to join the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), announced S. Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab's School Education Minister.

Extending heartiest congratulations to these brilliant students, their parents, and their teachers for this remarkable feat, S. Bains said that these students are the pride of Punjab and future of India. Their success is a shining testament of the Punjab Government's unwavering commitment to providing quality education to all, irrespective of socio-economic background.

Sharing a heartwarming tale of an exceptional student, the Education Minister said that Arshdeep Singh, a student of Shaheed Flight Lt. Mohit Kumar Garg School of Eminence Samana, who cleared the JEE exam despite facing immense personal loss. After losing his father, Arshdeep's mother, Sunita Rani, worked as a sanitation worker on a meager income of Rs 8000 per month. Yet, she instilled in him the determination to pursue his dreams. Arshdeep received free coaching and mentorship in government school, relying solely on his hard work and the support of his mother and teachers. Now, as an IIT qualifier, Arshdeep embodies resilience and promise, driven to uplift his family and give back to society.

He further shared a story of Lovepreet Singh, a student from a government school in Ferozepur district, who has cracked the JEE exam without private coaching. He achieved success despite limited financial resources with the state government’s Free Coaching Camp which provided him crucial academic exposure and motivation. Lovepreet's story showcases the transformative power of dedicated academic support in empowering rural students to excel at the national level, he added.

Sharing another inspiring story of a student, S. Harjot Singh Bains said that Harkiran Dass, a government school student from Patiala district who has cleared the JEE. His father, Mewa Dass, works in a local factory with a monthly income of just Rs. 7000. Yet, Harkiran's determination and teachers’s guidance and the free coaching program of the state helped him overcome economic hardships. The government’s academic support, doubt-clearing sessions, and mentoring bridged the gaps and kept him on track. He said that Harkiran's story would inspire other students to pursue their dreams despite adversity.

The Education Minister said that these stories are testament to the power of education, resilience, and dedication.

From humble beginnings to achieving excellence, they have shown that with unwavering determination and hard work, nothing is impossible in life. Their success will undoubtedly inspire other students to unlock their own potential and strive for excellence.

The Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has worked relentlessly to bridge the educational divide, ensuring every child has access to quality education and opportunities. The remarkable achievement is a direct outcome of the Mann Government’s commitment to empower the youth and build a more inclusive society, where every student can thrive and reach their full potential, said the Education Minister Bains adding, "This achievement is not just a milestone for our students, but a testament to the power of education to transform lives. We will continue to strive for excellence and ensure that every child in Punjab has access to quality education and opportunities to succeed."
