The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, remains dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the Punjabi language.

Punjab's Finance Minister, S. Harpal Singh Cheema, reaffirmed this commitment during a meeting with members of the Kendri Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (Sekhon) at his office today.

S. Cheema emphasized that the state government is actively collaborating with literary organizations to advance Punjabi language, literature, art, and culture.

He highlighted that under the Punjab Arts Council’s initiative, a series of ‘Punjab Nav Sirjana’ events are being conducted across the state to celebrate and promote literary and cultural heritage.

Addressing the demands raised by the Writers’ Sabha, the Finance Minister assured that the government is taking effective steps to enforce the use of Punjabi. He instructed the Director of the Language Department to ensure strict implementation of the Language Act and take action against any violations by government departments or employees.

He reiterated that the administration is working diligently to establish Punjabi as the primary language of communication across all sectors and ensure the installation of Punjabi signboards.
