Punjab government secures MBBS seats for terror victim students

In a major initiative for the welfare of victims of terrorism, the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann has ensured four MBBS seats from the Central Pool for the academic year 2024-25. These seats are specifically earmarked for the spouses or children of deceased or disabled civilian victims of terrorism. This progressive step by the state and central authorities underlines Punjab’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens affected by terrorism, showcasing the government's human-centred approach.

As per an official spokesperson, the seats have been allocated in prestigious institutions: one each at A.N. Magadh Medical College, Gaya (Bihar), and Grant Medical College, Mumbai (Maharashtra), while two are at Pt. JNM Medical College, Raipur (Chhattisgarh). Eligible students from Punjab can apply, highlighting the state government's commitment to ensuring the best opportunities for deserving candidates.

The eligibility criteria require the candidates to be Indian nationals and at least 17 years old at the time of admission or by 31 December of the admission year. Detailed terms and conditions, as well as the application process, can be found on the Ministry of Home Affairs' website.
