Punjab government launches online NRI Milnee to address grievances and boost development

The Punjab government has launched online NRI Milnee programs to swiftly address the grievances of NRI Punjabis, ensuring their concerns are resolved promptly.

These sessions are conducted monthly to facilitate direct communication and quick action.

During these online meetings, the NRI Affairs Minister personally listens to the complaints and forwards them to the relevant departments and the ADGP of the NRI wing of Punjab Police for immediate resolution.

According to the NRI Milnee 2024 report, a total of 309 complaints were registered, out of which 256 have been resolved. The remaining cases are under active review by the Deputy Commissioners and SSPs of the respective districts.

Administrative Reforms and NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal highlighted the "Connect with Your Roots" scheme, aimed at encouraging NRI youth to engage in Punjab’s development while strengthening their cultural ties.

Under this initiative, young NRIs aged 16-22 are invited to visit Punjab, reconnect with their heritage, and immerse themselves in their cultural roots.

Additionally, NRIs are being encouraged to support infrastructure development in their native villages. They can contribute 50% of the total cost for projects such as schools, hospitals, community centers, sewage systems, drinking water facilities, street lighting, and sports stadiums, while the Punjab government will cover the remaining expenses.
