Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed officials to ensure the swift construction of Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences and Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur.

Punjab CM pushes for timely completion of Hoshiarpur medical institute

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday directed officials to expedite the construction of the Shaheed Udham Singh State Institute of Medical Sciences and Civil Hospital in Hoshiarpur.

Reviewing the progress of these projects at his official residence, the Chief Minister emphasized that the institute is being developed to provide high-quality healthcare services. Spread across 21.41 acres, the institute will be established at an estimated cost of ₹418.30 crore. It will include a 300-bed hospital and a medical college with an annual intake of 150 students.

Bhagwant Singh Mann highlighted that the state-of-the-art hospital will feature two basements, a ground floor, eight additional floors, and a dedicated service floor within the existing Medical Hospital Campus in Hoshiarpur.

Regarding the proposed medical college, the Chief Minister stated that it will include an auditorium, service blocks with two basements, and a structure comprising ground plus six floors.

Additionally, separate hostel accommodations for boys and girls will be built, with provisions for future expansion. To accelerate progress, Bhagwant Singh Mann stressed the importance of issuing separate tenders for the construction of the Medical College and Civil Hospital.

He further underscored the urgency of speeding up construction to ensure timely completion.

The Chief Minister reiterated that providing quality healthcare facilities to the residents of the Kandi region is a top priority. He urged officials to ensure that the work is allocated and executed within the stipulated timeframe.
