Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav emphasized that Indian culture upholds the principle of “Simhavalokan” — a practice of reflecting on the past to shape the future.
Highlighting this philosophy, he said that the newly planned MLA Rest House represents a blend of tradition and progress, built in line with modern requirements and methodologies. This advanced facility is expected to provide a better working environment for MLAs, enabling them to serve the public more effectively.
The Chief Minister announced that each MLA will receive Rs. 5 lakh for office modernisation under the state budget. He also declared the approval of the second phase of the MLA Rest House during his address at the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony.
Dr. Yadav graced the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony as the chief guest, with Assembly Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar presiding over the event held at the MLA Rest House campus. The occasion was attended by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya and Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh.
The upcoming complex is estimated to cost Rs. 160 crore and will house 102 flats with all essential facilities. After conducting the Bhoomi Pujan, CM Yadav unveiled the foundation plaque and paid floral tribute to images of Lord Shri Ram and Bharat Mata. The ceremony began with the traditional Deep Prajjwalan and the singing of Vande Mataram.
Reaffirming his government’s focus on cleanliness, CM Yadav said that Bhopal is being prepared to top the Swachh Survekshan rankings. “Any shortcomings will be addressed,” he said. He also highlighted the global appreciation of Indian culture under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that Indian traditions, food, and attire are gaining popularity even in European nations like Spain.
He added that irrigation infrastructure is expanding rapidly across the state and that cleanliness drives are being intensified. During the holy month of Shravan, the government will provide a Rs. 250 Shagun to Ladli Bahnas as a goodwill gesture. He further stressed that the government, following Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s ideals, is striving to ensure quality education, technical training, and skill development for all sections of society.
CM Yadav also underlined the state’s efforts to promote social unity through cultural and religious activities at temples. He noted that tribal communities will present traditional dance and music during the Mahakal procession.
Touching on national unity, he spoke of the Centre's bold decisions under PM Modi’s leadership, such as the removal of Article 370 and the abolition of triple talaq, describing these reforms as efforts that have empowered Muslim women and fostered a stronger national spirit.
Assembly Speaker Shri Narendra Singh Tomar noted that elected representatives must be provided with appropriate facilities. He said the new rest house addresses that necessity. He added that the Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh is transitioning to an e-Assembly system that will benefit all members. Referring to the outdated nature of the original rest house built in 1958, he praised CM Yadav’s vision, especially his recent foreign visits aimed at attracting investments. He remarked on the state's achievements in cleanliness, stating, “Indore has already led the way, and next year Bhopal too will top the list”.
Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya stated that the new MLA facility would offer state-of-the-art amenities and secure technical infrastructure. Reflecting on his early days as a legislator, he acknowledged the progress that has been made. He stressed the need for continuous improvement in digital accessibility and expressed that the success in cleanliness rankings was a testament to visionary governance.
Public Works Minister Shri Rakesh Singh noted that democracy thrives not just on institutions but also on public trust and accountability. He credited CM Yadav’s leadership with ushering in a new era of infrastructure development. Inspired by PM Modi’s approach, the state is now aligning itself with international construction standards. He shared that the new MLA complex will be built to withstand earthquakes and fire hazards. He also noted that cities like Indore, Bhopal, Jabalpur, and Gwalior have been ranked for cleanliness, with more cities poised to join.
Principal Secretary of the Assembly Shri Awadhesh Pratap Singh informed that the new facility will cover 14 acres and include 102 flats to be completed within 18 months. It will also feature amenities such as a gym, parking space, clinic, fire alarm systems, a shopping complex, and a sewage treatment plant.
Several dignitaries and public representatives attended the event, including Sports, Youth Welfare & Cooperatives Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang, Minister of State for OBC and Minority Welfare Smt. Krishna Gaur, former Speakers Dr. Sitasharan Sharma and Shri Girish Gautam, MLAs and former Protem Speaker Shri Rameshwar Sharma, MLAs Shri Vishnu Khatri and Shri Bhagwandas Sabnani, Bhopal Mayor Smt. Malti Rai, and Municipal Corporation Chairperson Shri Kishan Suryavanshi.
